South Australian school students will now finish the first term of the year next Friday, a week earlier than expected, despite previous declarations schools would remain open.
Four new pupil-free days means school holidays will now run from April 6-26, with Term Two resuming on April 27, where students will learn from home, online.

But there is a lifeline for those families who can’t supervise their children at home.
“If you are not in a situation where you can do that, then we will supervise them and support their learning needs at school,” Education Minister John Gardner said.
Catholic schools and most private schools will also end the term next week.

The change was intended to give teachers extra time to create remote learning plans, with more students learning from home as the pandemic continues.
However, the Labor Opposition has said the change is confusing, saying parents and teachers need “clarity”.
The Education Department said vacation care programs will likely continue throughout the holidays, and be extended across the pupil-free days.
