MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno will undergo self-quarantine once again after attending a meeting with Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Jojo Garcia, who recently tested positive for COVID-19.

In his live city address Sunday, Moreno said the self-quarantine is likewise a precaution as he bared that one of the city government’s department heads also tested positive for the respiratory disease.

The Manila City Hall official is currently in stable condition, he added.

“Sa awa naman ng Diyos, ako naman ay mukhang malusog. Ako rin ay nag-sumite na ng panibagong test at ako ay maghihintay pa po ng ilang araw para kumalma lang ang lahat,” the local chief executive said.

The mayor announced on March 11 that he will undergo self-quarantine following his trip from the United Kingdom which was also affected by COVID-19.

Less than a week later, Moreno tested negative for the disease.

The respiratory disease has so far infected over 720,000 worldwide, nearly 34,000 of whom have died.

In the Philippines, 1,418 have been infected with 71 deaths and 42 recoveries.

Of the country’s total infection, 55 came from the capital city of Manila.
