MANILA, Philippines — Big oil firm Shell Philippines has donated 3,000 pieces of N95 face masks to the Department of Health (DOH), which will be distributed to hospitals having a shortage in medical supply especially for the protection against the COVID-19.

The turnover of face masks was led by Shell Country Health Advisor Dra. Rose Rivera, according to a news release from the company on Tuesday. Shell Country Occupational Health Nurse Patrick Jeremillos and other DOH officials–Undersecretaries Myrna Cabotaje, Gerry Bayugo, and Ma. Rosario Vergeire; Director Gloria Balboa, and Assistant Secretaries Kenneth Ronquillo and Nestor Santiago–were also present during the turnover.

Shell said it has also donated bottled waters to seven hospitals.

“Through our Shell retailers, we are giving food packs, biscuits, and water for medical workers, police force and military personnel and logistics drivers,” the company added.

The petroleum company said it has also extended donations to the municipality of Pasacao, Camarines Sur for the purchase of relief goods for indigent families.

The oil firm said it is also supporting its own staff through accommodation in stations with transportation to and from work, meals for staff on duty, financial support for staff grounded by the enhanced community quarantine, and face masks and alcohol when they are on duty and when they travel to and from gasoline stations.

“Our own staff are frontliners too, as they continue to serve the needs of our motorists,” Shell noted.
