LEGAZPI CITY –– Mayors of Sorsogon province were asked to identify government facilities or schools that may be temporarily converted into isolation and quarantine areas for persons under watch for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In an executive order, Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero said all local governments must establish COVID-19 special care facilities to manage the possible large-scale transmission of the disease in the province.

Salvador Mendoza, Sorsogon information officer, said persons under monitoring (PUMs) would be housed in the identified facilities in every town or city.

Other PUMs were home-quarantined, while the stranded residents in Bicol borders, who were rescued by the “sweeper team,” were housed in Matnog National High School, Bicol University Gubat Campus, Sorsogon State College Main and Bulan Campus.

The persons under investigation with mild symptoms will be transferred to a farm in Sorsogon City.
